Prof Tetsuo Tsuji, a distinguished figure in public health with over three decades of dedicated service, notably served as the former Vice-Minister of Health, Labour, and Welfare at Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare. With a career spanning pivotal roles at the ministry, including Director-General of Health Insurance Bureau and Vice-Minister, he has played an instrumental role in shaping Japan's healthcare landscape. Prof Tsuji's contributions extend to academia, where he held the position of Professor at Den-en Chofu University and the University of Tokyo's Institute of Gerontology. A respected author, his published works encompass critical subjects such as medical care reform and the challenges of a super-ageing society. Prof Tsuji remains a devoted advocate, currently serving as a Visiting Researcher at the Institute of Gerontology, Institute for Future Initiatives at the University of Tokyo.
